Welcome to the AASP

For those of you not familiar with the Alabama Association of Sleep Professionals, or AASP as we like to call ourselves, we are a non-profit organization dedicated to serving sleep professionals and educating the public on matters of sleep health and medicine. We were formed in 2000 and held our first meeting at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a modest attendance of approximately 30 individuals. We elected a board which served for three years, and held three annual meetings. Since that time we have watched the organization grow during the two-year term of the second board. The current board, our fourth elected group, just took over and the membership is at an all-time high. Although the name implies membership from the state of Alabama, we welcome membership from other states and have had attendees at our annual meetings from Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Furthermore, since the first meeting at UAB, we have begun holding meetings at Gulf Shores, Alabama and have had a steady increase in attendance.
